Basho Inari Shrine

芭蕉稲荷神社
A shrine built on the site of Basho-an, where Matsuo Basho originally lived. It is a land that sings "the sound of water in an old pond and frogs jumping", and it is said that he traveled from this place to the "inner alley", and it is designated as a historical monument of the capital. After Basho's death, it became a samurai mansion and the hermitage disappeared, but during the storm surge of the typhoon in Taisho 6, a stone frog was found, which was said to be Basho's bequest, and it is said that the Inari Shrine was built with it as a deity through the efforts of the locals.
