Nogi Shrine

乃木神社
On September 13, the first year of the Taisho era, General Nogi and his wife were martyred at the time of the death of Emperor Meiji. In order to preserve the former residence and enshrine the spirits of the couple and make it a shrine of reverence for the people, the reverence group "Chuo Nogi Society" was established. After the enthronement of the Meiji Jingu Shrine, in November of the 12th year of the Taisho era, the Nogi Shrine was enshrined. The buildings below the shrine were burned down in an air raid in Showa 20, but the shrine was rebuilt in September 37 due to the enthusiasm of worshippers all over the country. In the fifth year of Reiwa, the 100th anniversary of the Imperial Throne will be celebrated. Nogi Nogi was distinguished by military honors in the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese campaigns, and in his later years, at the request of Emperor Meiji, he was appointed as the head of the academy and trained His Imperial Highness the Emperor. His wife, Shizuko, has devoted herself to the work of domestic assistance, and the appearance of the two pillars who have lived their lives together is widely regarded as a mirror of marital unity.
