Zen Temple
禪定院It is said that it was founded about 600 years ago. The building and records were all destroyed by fire during the Bunsei period (1818-30), but you can see the antiquity of the founding by the steles of the year of Oan and Shitoku (Northern and Southern Dynasties) in the precincts. The Oribe lantern (registered cultural property of the ward) engraved with the 13th year of Kanbun (1673) in front of the main hall is also known as the Christian lantern because of its statue, and is counted as one of the rare stone structures in the ward. At the entrance of the cemetery, there is a wart jizo with a spiritual experience in the healing of warts, and a brush mound in the cemetery that mourns the bodhi of the master of Terakoya. Teshima Elementary School, the predecessor of the current Shakujii Elementary School, was established here in 1874 as the first public elementary school in the ward.
