Enodai Six Tenjin
榎大六天神In the Edo period, there was a mansion of Hatamoto Kondo Tonosuke in this area.
There are old Enoki and Tsuki trees near the fence of the mansion, and one of them was called Enkiri Enoki from when it was done.
Enoki is our sacred tree, and since the diagonal opposite of the current shrine site (Honcho 32) was the former shrine site, it is highly likely that it was enshrined as a shrine in the residence of the Kondo family homestead.
When a man and a woman want to cut off a bad relationship or wish to abstain from alcohol, it is said that it will be fulfilled if the bark scraped from the enoki is decoction and given to the target person to drink, and it is believed that it will be fulfilled.
It is believed that if a procession of brides and grooms passes under Enoki, it will be unlucky, and the procession of the Fifty Palaces and Rakugu Palaces that surrendered to the Tokugawa family avoided here.
There is a tradition that when going down the Wamiya Palace, Enoki was wrapped in a chrysanthemum and passed under it to enter the Itabashi main camp, but it is thought that the contents of the tentacle ordering the unholy to be covered were transmitted, and according to the old documents of the Iida family, the owner of the Hashijuku Nakajuku, it did not actually pass underneath, and a detour was made to avoid Enoki following the precedent.
The first generation of Enoki was destroyed by the Great Fire of Itabashi-juku in 1884 (Meiji 17), and the second generation was planted after that.
In 1972 (Showa 47), due to the redevelopment of the surrounding area, it was decided to relocate from the old company site to the current location, and the second generation Enoki was cut down.
The current Enkiri Enoki (third generation) was newly planted at the current location.
In recent years, it has come to be expected to benefit not only from bad luck but also from good luck prayers and from illness, and there is no end to the number of worshippers from all over the country.
Currently, it is protected by the worship association, and the Hikawa Shrine in Futaba Town performs the ritual.
