Karasumori Shrine

烏森神社
Founding of the shrine In the third year of Tenkei (940) in the Heian period, when the Taira Shomon rebellion broke out in the eastern part of the country, the Chinshu general Fujiwara Hidesato (Tawara Fujita), who is famous for the anecdote of his extermination in the past, prayed for victory in Inari, where Bushu is located, and a white fox came and gave him a white feather arrow. With the arrow, he was able to quickly pacify Dongyi, and when Hidego was about to solicit a company as a thank you, a white fox appeared again in his dream and told him that the place where the divine birds flocked was a spiritual place. So I came to the forest in Sakurada Village, and as I had dreamed, the crows were flocking, so I built a company there. It is said that this is the origin of Karasumori Inari. Shrine Takasho When the Great Fire of Meireki (colloquially known as the Furisode Fire, one of the three major fires in the world) occurred, the entire city of Edo was burned to the ground. However, only Karasumori Inari Shrine was mysteriously spared from the burning, so this was considered to be the fault of the gods, and from then on, the faith in Karasumori Inari grew day by day. In addition, together with Sugimori Shrine (Japan Bridge) and Yanagimori Shrine (Kanda), it has been revered since ancient times as "Edo Sanmori". In the 6th year of the Meiji era, the company name of Karasumori Inari was changed to Karasumori Shrine, and it has gained the faith of many people as the guardian deity of Shimbashi Karasumori. The current shrine hall was built in Showa 46.
