Koenji Hikawa Shrine
高円寺氷川神社More about Hikawa Shrine
According to the Edo Famous Places Society, when Minamoto Yoritomo conquered Oshu a long time ago, when he came to the land of Suginami in Musashi Province, some of his entourage stayed in the village of Koenji and eventually became farmers...... It is noted.
According to one theory, it is said that Murata Hyōbu (by the way, the surname Murata is the former family of Koenji), and at that time, a messenger of divine will from the head office of Omiya Takana, Musashi Province, conveyed to him, and it is said that the origin of this shrine was built in this area, which is considered to be beautiful in this area, where the location of this Koenji village is high and high in the pine cedar trees and the distant rice paddies. The deity of the festival is a simple deity, and there is a belief in the development of the country and the protection of disasters. There are about 1,000 branch shrines of Hikawa Shrine, most of which are in the Kanto region. The date of our founding is unknown, but according to the inscription, it is said that it was enshrined at the same time as the founding of the Soto sect Koenji Temple. The shrine enshrines the Meteorological Shrine, the Inari Shrine, the Mitake Shrine, and the Hie Shrine.
On October 14, 1946, the shrine hall, the shrine office, the Kagura hall, the shrine storehouse, and the water shed were newly built, and they continue to this day.
The festival is held on August 27 and 28 every year.
Meteorological Shrine
This meteorological shrine was built and enshrined on April 10, Showa 19 on the premises of the former Army Meteorological Department (former Mabashi 4-chome, now Koenji Kita 4-chome), and was burned down by an air raid on the way and rebuilt, but due to the end of the Pacific War, the meteorological unit was disbanded and paid by the former meteorological unit officials, and it was relocated to the Koenji Hikawa Shrine on September 18, Showa 23.
Since then, we have received worship and service from many people, including those involved in the meteorological unit, but with the passage of time, the shrine has become severely eroded, and in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of the relocation of the shrine, we have started construction of a new shrine and held a completion ceremony on June 1, 15, Meteorological Memorial Day.
