Kokugakuin University Temple

國學院大學神殿
Kokugakuin University Temple is a shrine located in Shibuya, Tokyo. The shrine is dedicated to the Emperor Amaterasu (Amaterasu) and the Eight Million Gods of Tenjin and Earth. Kokugakuin University Temple was built in 1930 (Showa 5) in Shibuya Hikawa Uragoji (currently Kokugakuin University Shibuya Campus), where the university was transferred as a shrine of Kokugakuin University, and is revered by faculty and students and is held more than 20 times a year. The Kanabi River flows in front of the temple, and the "Kanabi Forest (Millennium Forest)" is built around the temple. Among the faculty and staff of Kokugakuin University who have priesthood qualifications, temple priests and priests commissioned by the president are supposed to play a central role in serving. In addition, the Mizutamakai, an on-campus club that performs gagaku and dance, also cleans the temple and assists the priests. In addition to Kokugakuin University, there is Kogakukan University as a Shinto university, but it does not have an on-campus shrine, and due to the history of its founding, it still has a strong connection with the shrine (Ise Jingu).
