Sakai Inari Shrine

境稲荷神社
It is said to have been founded by Prince Yoshihisa, the nine great shoguns of Ashikaga, and was called Sakai Inari because the shinobi sat on the border between Oka and Mukaigaoka, and was the chief guardian of both villages. In the third year of Kannobu, a fire broke out in the Matsudaira residence in the neighboring Okakami area, and the shrine hall, as well as the plaque written by Prince Yoshihisa and the treasured old records, were burned down, but they were rebuilt by Betsuto Jikai. The plaque of the current Sando Guchi torii is a copy of the plaque of Hani Yamato Mori Brush, which was dedicated to the worship hall at this time. The old song "Shinobi Oka, Mukai Furuoka, no Kami no Yashiro wa Matsu no Shimodani" is then enshrined in the 28th year of the Meiji era, the treasure sword Inari of the Yushima Kiritorizaka Shrine. In March of the 20th year of the Meiji era, in response to the devastation of the war, the current main shrine, worship hall, and torii gate as well as the shrine office were built in Heisei 5. The well behind the main shrine in the precincts is known to be a very ancient spring water from the name of the old company, Betsutohara, Izumiyama, and Sankoji Temple, and is known as "Benkei Kagamigai" in the topographical records of Edo.
