Sarue Shrine

猿江神社
The exact date of its founding as a shrine is unknown, but around the middle of the Kōhei year (1058), it gathered all the faiths in the vicinity and had more than 500 tsubo of precincts as an Inari shrine. In the latter half of the Heian period, in the Oshu expedition (role of the ninth year of the previous year) by Minamoto Yoriyoshi and Yoshiie (Hachiman Taro Yoshiie), there was a warlord named "Saru no Uta" (Saru no Uta) among the vassals who made many victories. He was praised as a warrior of valor, but he ran out of strength in the cove of this land. It is said that the local fishermen who learned of this built a mound in the precincts of our company and buried it generously. It is said that the company name "Sarue" was formed by combining the character "Monkey" in Sarutota and the character "E" in Irie.
