Taizong Temple
太宗寺The predecessor of the soan "Taijong-an" opened by the monk Taijong dates back to around the first year of Keicho (1596). Masakatsu, the fifth generation of the Naito family, died in the 6th year of Kanei (1629) and was buried at Taijongji Temple, where it became the tomb of successive generations.
Since it was located in Naito Shinjuku, which is an inn, there were many pilgrims, and Monzencho also developed. After the Meiji era, the precincts were developed along with the development of Shinjuku, but they were severely damaged by a fire in the Tokyo air raid in Showa 20.
The precincts of the temple are known as the Shinjuku Mini Museum, where you can visit the Bronze Jizo Bodhisattva Sitting Statue, which is one of the six Edo Jizo, as well as the Enma Statue, the Robed Woman Statue, the Naito Family Cemetery, the Kirishitan Lantern, and the Naito Family Cemetery.
