Toranomon Golden Sword Hiragu
虎ノ門金刀比羅宮In the third year of Manji (1660), Kyogoku Takakazu, who was the lord of Marugame Domain in Sanuki Province, invited the spirit of the Golden Sword Hira Shrine (Hongu), which sits on Mt. Zoto, which is within the domain territory, to the land of Shiba and Mita, where the domain residence was located at that time, and in the seventh year of Enpo (1679), it was relocated to the current Toranomon (which corresponds to the back demon gate of Edo Castle) in the reign of Kyogoku Takatoyo. In response to the fervent request of the citizens of Edo, the residence was opened only on the 10th day of each month and worship was permitted.
At that time, it was called "Kinbira Daigongen", but in the second year of Meiji (1869), the name of the shrine was changed to Jitohira Shrine due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhist shrines, and in the 22nd year of Meiji (1889), the name of the shrine was changed to Kintohira Shrine.
The god is widely respected by the common people as the god of protection of the sea, satisfaction of large catches, abundant harvests of five grains, cultivation of industry, and elimination of good fortune, and is known as one of the famous shrines of the Eastern Kingdom.
