Yakuso Shrine

薬祖神社
Japan Hashimotomachi has been lined with drug wholesalers since the Edo period, and even today it has the face of a "medicine town" where the headquarters and branches of pharmaceutical companies gather. In the pharmaceutical industry of Honmachi, the Oarai Isomae Shrine, which is dedicated to the gods of Ōki and Shohiko, who are considered to be the ancestor of medicine, have been revered, the Sake Row Isomae Shrine, and the Gojoten Shrine in Ueno. In 1908 (Meiji 41), the Tokyo Pharmaceutical Trades Association (the predecessor of the current Tokyo Pharmaceutical Affairs Association) welcomed the spirits from Gojo Ten Shrine and held a grand festival, and in November 1929 (Showa 4), when the office was newly built, the Yakuso Shrine was built on the roof. Before the war, the festival attracted thousands of people, and most of the pilgrims sought out the auspicious decorations that were distributed. After the end of the war, in 1954 (Showa 29), the "Yakuso God Worship Association" was formed, and the festival work of the Pharmaceutical Trade Association was taken over by the Yakushi Association. In 1983 (Showa 58), the former shrine building was built on the roof of the Showa Yakusho Building (3-4-18 Hashimoto-cho, Japan). Furthermore, on September 28, 2016 (Heisei 28), it was relocated to "Fukutoku Forest" developed in accordance with the "(tentative name) Japan Hashimotomachi 2-chome Specific Block Development Plan".
